The sun sets over Conesus Lake yet again, just as powerful and awe-inspiring as the first time. Three years down, a little girl growing up, and a whole future ahead. If you’re reading this, it means you’re either still with us or meeting us for the first time — and we can’t thank you enough for your support.
New Brands, New Breads
This year we launched Explore Conesus Lake, replacing the previous Conesus Lake House branding. My goal was to create an online ecosystem of regional recommendations — a hub for bringing readers closer to local businesses, even directly shopping from them, while encouraging the adventurous spirit within. We hope you’ll come explore with us.
Chef Leslie took center stage at the launch of Conesus Lake Bakery, our online local bakery delivery service. Within days of formally announcing the shop, she made her first sale — an order of Italian style and Spicy Pepper Bread — delivered just down East Lake Road. More orders continued to pour in through the website and via social media, taking our deliveries from Conesus Lake through Geneseo and even up to Avon. The next time you stay at Conesus Lake, we hope you’ll order some fresh, handmade bread — now available for pre-order when booking Conesus Lake House!

Stats
Compared to last year, we welcomed another 6,000 unique visitors to the website, while our social following grew exponentially upon launching the new brand. Within just three months, Explore Conesus Lake doubled our followers on Facebook and Instagram and boosted WordPress and email subscriptions by 17%. Our brands have been viewed over 150,000 times across all platforms since the website started three years ago. Despite this year’s hiatus, we hosted an average of 1,200 unique visitors to the site each month since re-starting, routinely elevated by our activity on socials.

Travel Year-in-Review
This year we got back to the business of travel writing, kicking off the summer season with our first distillery tour of Naples and Hammondsport. Word-of-mouth recommendations encouraged us to seek out the best burgers in the region, leaving some room for a trash plate or two as we finally embraced Rochester’s local dish. Hyper-focused on the immediate area around Conesus Lake, we lined up local farm stand and market tours stretching from Conesus to Avon, looping around routes 15 and 15A, and climbing up Allens Hill toward Bloomfield, with a bonus deep dive into the Soap Kings of Conesus. We drank delicious Lakeville brews and danced the Mambo Italiano at Avon Corn Fest, and we took a little time for ourselves as parents in Rochester’s North Winton Village. We made the long pilgrimage to the film sites of Severance in the Catskills and joined throngs of tourists flocking to Letchworth State Park for some Instagram magic. We packed a lot of fun local exploration into four months, but as Ken says to Barbie in that famous Aqua song, we’re just getting started.
