Schoen Place in Pittsford, NY, is a delightful waterfront area that developed around an historic grain silo along the Erie Canal. Offering Sam Patch ferry rides, an outdoor beer patio with Lock 32 Brewing Company, and pedestrian-friendly thoroughfares among boutique shops and restaurants, the district is an easy day trip destination for families looking to spend a Saturday outside. It’s also a good excuse to wander the Village of Pittsford, too, and maybe grab a quick burger or red hot from Hungry’s.
The grain silo itself has since been renovated, restored, and developed into luxury office space overlooking Pittsford and the canal. It towers over the green walkway of Schoen Place, like some Brutalist arm reaching up from the middle of the forest — kind of like Unknown Mortal Orchestra’s debut album art. Whether it’s indie rock or Erie Canal towns, Explore Conesus Lake keeps the fun content flowing all year long.
