Even Kevin Costner couldn’t tame the Middle Falls at Letchworth State Park. With the rainy season we’ve had, the Genesee River bursts through the Grand Canyon of the East like a herd of wild stallions. Enter by way of Castile, New York, and head south. Roll the windows down– you’ll feel the spray of the Falls before you even park.
This view is available just shy of an hour’s drive from Conesus Lake House. On your way, stop in Perry, New York, for a beer at Silver Lake Brewing Project or a gallery opening at the Arts Council for Wyoming County. Afterwards you can enjoy an ice cream cone at the convenient concession stand before driving north through Letchworth’s wooded acres, catching further glimpses of the gorge through the trees. Bonus points during autumn foliage season, which is now open on our AirBnB or VRBO calendars. We’re also accepting applications for a seasonal winter stay on Furnished Finder.
